When Arc’teryx, the globally recognized outdoor performance brand, set out to create a dynamic retail display that captured the essence of their mountain heritage, they turned to Starch Creative, a leading design-build studio known for bold, experiential environments. To bring the physical elements of that vision to life, Starch partnered with Artek, a collaboration that merged world-class design with advanced engineering and large-format 3D manufacturing.
At Artek, our capabilities extend far beyond electrical systems. We specialize in solving complex, technical challenges for some of the world’s most respected brands, bridging the gap between creative design and functional, engineered solutions. Through this collaboration, Artek’s in-house engineering team and Massivit 10000-G 3D printing platform were leveraged to fabricate a set of custom mannequins that appear to be hiking up a mountain. Each one meticulously crafted to embody Arc’teryx’s spirit of innovation, movement, and exploration.
Starch Creative led the conceptual and aesthetic design of the installation, while Artek provided the technical development, engineering design, and manufacturing expertise required to transform digital concepts into physical form. Our team worked directly from Starch’s creative direction, converting their 3D design data into production-ready CAD files optimized for strength and stability.
Utilizing our Massivit printers large-scale additive manufacturing capabilities, Artek produced each mannequin in multiple precision-printed sections to achieve the lifelike poses envisioned by Starch’s design team. Our engineers developed custom internal supports and reinforced structures to preserve each figure’s climbing motion while maintaining a sleek, discreet aesthetic. There were no visible stands, wires, or supports. Following printing each unit was hand-sanded, filled, and finished before being delivered for final installation under Starch Creative’s direction.
