At Artek, innovation is about simplifying installations, improving safety, consistency, and long-term reliability. In high-current DC systems, small mechanical inconsistencies compound into electrical inefficiencies, installation delays, and long-term service challenges. The goal is not just to make a system work. The goal is to make it structurally sound, electrically efficient, and repeatable across every build.

Four years ago, while designing and assembling advanced power systems centered around the Victron Lynx Distributor, we identified a consistent misalignment problem. The Lynx platform provides a modular, high-current backbone with exceptional busbar integration, but commonly paired battery switches did not share its mounting plane. Integrating different components required installers to compensate with stacked spacers, layered washers, improvised brackets, or short cable jumpers bridging between busbars.

These workarounds were common throughout the industry, but they introduced unnecessary conductors, additional connection points, and mechanical inconsistency. In highly mobile environments, every additional junction becomes a potential failure point. In high-current systems, every extra interface increases resistance. Over time, those small compromises add up.

The Artek Lynx Shim Plate was engineered to eliminate that compromise entirely. Developed in-house and refined through continuous field use, it precisely matches the vertical profile of the Lynx Distributor, bringing supported battery switches into perfect alignment with the DC bus structure. Artek currently offers Lynx Shim Plates designed specifically for two widely used battery switches: the more popular BEP 770‑EZ and the Blue Sea 6006. Instead of bridging between components, installers can bolt directly into a unified plane using standard hardware. The mechanical relationship between the switch and the distributor becomes rigid, intentional, and electrically efficient.

The improvement is both structural and electrical. By removing the need for short cable jumpers and stacked hardware, the shim plate reduces potential voltage drop and minimizes unnecessary resistance in high-current pathways. At the same time, it creates a mechanically stable assembly that better withstands vibration, shock, and thermal cycling. In van conversions, marine applications, utility deployments, and off-grid infrastructure, that structural integrity directly translates to long-term reliability.

Just as importantly, the system becomes cleaner. A unified mounting plane simplifies layout planning and improves visual clarity inside the electrical enclosure. Service technicians can immediately understand the architecture. Expansion becomes straightforward. When paired with a SmartShunt IP65 or BMV-712 and the Lynx Distributor, the result is a tightly integrated DC backbone that looks intentional, because it is. OEM partners gain consistency from unit to unit. What was previously an improvised interface becomes a standardized, engineered solution.

The Artek Lynx Shim Plate was not introduced as a convenience accessory. It was developed because our engineering team required a better method for integrating high-current switching into Lynx-based systems. Over the last four years, it has been deployed across hundreds of installations, proving its value in real-world conditions. Despite the growth of the Lynx ecosystem, it remains the first, and best, purpose-built alignment solution of its kind.

This product reflects a broader philosophy at Artek. Thoughtful mechanical design directly improves electrical performance. Small refinements in component alignment reduce system complexity, installation time, and long-term risk. When we remove friction at the base level, we elevate the entire system.

For system designers and installers building around Victron’s Lynx platform, the Artek Lynx Shim Plate transforms a common workaround into a clean, engineered standard.
